Futures of prison labour

Huw Thomas and Katie Bales speak to Rod Earle, Senior Lecturer at the Open University, to talk about his experiences of being in prison, the foundations of convict criminology and what he sees as the futures of prison labour in the UK.

Dr Rod Earle is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Health, Well-being and Social Care at The Open University. He served a short prison sentence in 1982 and is a founder member of the Convict Criminology group in the UK. He has published widely from his prison research and on the potentials of convict criminology. He is the editor, with James Mehigan of Degrees of Freedom: The Open University and Prison Education to be published by Policy Press in December.
